Family Action & the Service:

Family Action is a registered charity, building stronger families since 1869. Today we work with more than 60,000 families in over 150 community based services, as well as supporting thousands more through national programmes and grants. We transform lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation.

Are you passionate about improving the lives of children and young people? Do you want to be part of an award-winning organisation that makes a difference? We are looking for a Children and Families Domestic Abuse Worker to join a service that supports young people whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse in the Bradford district.

Survive & Thrive’s Integrated Children’s Service delivers support to children and families and we are looking for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker to work with children and young people, focusing on the reduction of trauma symptoms and rebuilding of relationships affected by domestic abuse.

Your impact:

You will work with children, young people and their families to assess their needs and devise a child focused support plan which will help them to achieve positive outcomes and overcome the negative effects of Domestic Abuse related trauma and experience a brighter future. In addition, parents, carers and professionals will understand more about the impact of domestic abuse on affected children and ways in which they can support.

You will join an established, supportive and positive team passionate about delivering high quality innovative services with a strong commitment to continuous learning and development. You will be supported to develop your knowledge and skills with the opportunity to thrive in an innovative organisation that values your opinion, encourages learning and is committed to staff wellbeing.

Main Requirements (for more details, please see the job description and person specification):

• You will have experience of working directly with children, young people and their families where there has been domestic abuse.
• You will have an understanding and experience of trauma informed approaches to working with children and families
• You will have experience of safeguarding risk assessment, identifying safeguarding concerns and following procedures.

Benefits:
- an annual paid leave entitlement of 25 working days plus bank holidays.
- up to 6% matched-pension contributions.
- flexible working arrangements and new starters have the right to make flexible working requests from day one of employment.
- enhanced paid sick leave and paid family leave provisions;
- eye care and winter flu jabs vouchers,
- cycle to work scheme,
- investing in your professional development with ongoing quality training and career development opportunities.

*Ordinarily Family Action appoints new starters at the starting point of the salary scale (with subsequent annual pay progression), unless you have experience that would justify appointment further up the salary scale or there are any other exceptional reasons.

We are forward looking, ambitious and committed to continuous improvement. We are a people focused, can-do organisation, which strives for excellence in all we do and operates with mutual respect
