Family Action & the Role’s Impact:
At Family Action we support people through change, challenge or crisis. It’s what we’ve done for over 150 years. We protect children, support young people and adults and offer direct, practical help to families and communities.
We see first-hand the power of family to shape lives, for better or worse, so we speak up for the importance of family in national and local policymaking, amplify family voices and represent the changing needs of families in the UK today.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Philanthropy Manager to join Family Action in a brand-new role created to drive growth in philanthropic giving. At a pivotal moment for the organisation, as we look to continue to diversify our income streams, you will have the opportunity to build and shape our proactive major donor fundraising programme from the ground up; identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors capable of making transformational gifts.
Working closely with senior colleagues, trustees and service teams, you will build meaningful relationships with high-net-worth individuals and prospective donors, developing compelling funding opportunities that inspire support for Family Action's mission, creating long-term partnerships that make a lasting difference to children, families and communities across the UK.
Main Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage a portfolio of major donor prospects and supporters, creating tailored cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans to maximise income and engagement.
• Identify and qualify new major donor prospects through research, networking and referrals, building a strong and sustainable prospect pipeline.
• Secure five and six-figure gifts from individuals through high-quality relationship management and compelling fundraising propositions.
• Develop personalised donor journeys and stewardship plans that demonstrate impact and encourage long-term support.
• Work with senior leaders, trustees and colleagues across the organisation to engage major donors and prospects effectively.
• Prepare high-quality funding proposals, donor reports, briefing documents and presentations.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor interactions, opportunities and income forecasts within the CRM system.
• Monitor, analyse and report on major donor fundraising performance against agreed targets and KPIs, including income and expenditure.
• Represent Family Action at meetings, events and networking opportunities, acting as a passionate ambassador for our work.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the wider philanthropy and individual giving strategy.
Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification)

• Strong written communication skills, including preparing compelling funding proposals, cases for support and donor reports.
• Experience using CRM systems to manage supporter relationships, track activity and produce reports.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and contribute positively as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to Family Action's values and a passion for improving outcomes for children, families and communities.
