We are now looking for two Trainee Parenting Practitioners to join us and undertake a Postgraduate Diploma on a full-time, fixed-term contract for one year, working 37 hours per week, with the potential to become a permanent post upon completion of the course.

The Role
As a Trainee Parenting Practitioner, you will deliver therapeutic support to parents and carers of children under five as part of a postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-based Psychotherapies for children and young people.
Two days per week will be spent in face-to-face and online training, and you’ll spent three days per week engaging in clinical work across Manchester. You’ll gain clinical experience in providing therapeutic and practical support to families, contributing to the evaluation of interventions and ensuring the wellbeing and safety of children through effective safeguarding.
Supporting the delivery of care and support for parents, you’ll liaise with Health Visitors Social Services, Education and other statutory and voluntary agencies, attending relevant meetings, maintaining accurate records and reporting any risks or concerns.
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma plus the eligibility to apply for an Individual Evidence Based Parent Practitioner BABCP Provisional Accreditation.
About You
To be considered as a Trainee Parenting Practitioner, you will need:
- Two years post-qualification experience in a core profession as defined by the BABCP (e.g., Health Visitors, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, etc) OR for candidates with a differing profession, e.g., youth workers, support workers, IAG workers etc, a minimum of four years’ experience of working with children, young people and families (including parenting work) is required (For information on the application process for these candidates, please select the apply button)
- Membership of the BABCP
- A relevant Honours Degree graded at 2.2 (Candidates who don’t have an undergraduate degree and have been successful at interview are required to complete a short, written task to satisfy The University of Manchester’s entry policy to postgraduate programmes)
