Salary: Starting at £24,971 FTE per annum to £27,504 FTE per annum, Grade 2 (point 16-19)*
£14,510.17 per annum to £15,982.05 per annum for 21.5 hours per week

We’re looking for a motivated, passionate and experienced Development Co-ordinator to work within core Asset Based Community Development principles with community empowerment central to all work; enhancing the capacity and contribution of the local community and supporting the community to play an active role in developing local services and activities.
The Development Co-ordinator will stimulate interest and awareness of local community issues, encouraging resident involvement in decision making. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact whilst promoting integration and cohesion within and between communities.
The successful applicant will work within Asset Based Community Development principles with community empowerment central to all work. The role is front facing with the aim of enhancing the capacity and contributions of the local neighbourhood by supporting them to play an active role in their community and encouraging resident involvement in decision making - promoting integration and cohesion within and between communities.
The role will include proactive and reactive work, utilising key skills in partnership working, consultation and engagement, networking, and capacity building - supporting local organisations and residents to identify issues, needs and solutions to improve their community.
Reporting to the Service Manager the successful applicant will establish contact and positive relationships with individuals and groups from all sections within the local community through informal and formal meetings and outreach work to discuss local issues, needs and demands and to support the development of appropriate services and activities to meet local needs.

Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
• A recognised professional qualification at Level 3 or above in Community Engagement / Development Work, Health, Education, or equivalent experience in these fields.
• Experience of recruiting, managing, and retaining volunteers.
• An understanding of how social exclusion, deprivation and marginalisation impacts upon communities, families, and individuals.
• Experience producing written reports and materials at a high standard.
• Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to establish productive relationships with elected members, external organisations and local residents.
• Experience of establishing and supporting the development of volunteer led committees and steering groups.
• An understanding of the importance and principles of community involvement, participation and co-production.
• Appointments are subject to satisfactory Safer Recruitment checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check where appropriate to the role.
