Family Action & the Role’s Impact:
At Family Action we support people through change, challenge or crisis. It’s what we’ve done for over 150 years. We protect children, support young people and adults and offer direct, practical help to families and communities. Most of our services are based in the UK, whilst on the Isle of Man we deliver two services.

Our vision is of a society that understands the importance and power of family as a foundation for individual futures and connected, resilient communities.

Because family is the key to positive futures, for individuals and society: whether it’s recognising the value of family networks and support in the present or understanding the impact of trauma from the past, understanding the power of family to shape futures at every age is vital.

As Service Manager, you will offer on-site, hands-on support for the Family Support team who work with children who have additional or complex needs. You will work in a highly professional and practice focused service, providing an expert focus on the needs of children and families, and the support we provide.

You will ensure that the Supervised Contact Centre provides safe and child-centred sessions. You will offer expert and hands-on support when required. You will also be required to deputise for the Operational Manager for all aspects of the services; with a particular focus on providing support and supervision to Family Support Workers carrying complex needs cases.

Main Responsibilities:
• You will lead the Family Support service by bringing a high degree of experience and expertise in relation to family support cases. You will ensure that the service delivers the highest quality help and support for children and families.
• You will support the Operational Manager and other colleagues in overseeing the quality of practice and ensuring that practice is child and outcome-focused.
• You will provide hands-on and on-site advice for the Family Support and the Supervised Contact Centre staff and managers by responding to safeguarding concerns, practice queries and any urgent matters that arise.

Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
• Educated to Level 3 or above with a recognised professional qualification in social work, health, education, or equivalent.
• Full driving licence and business insurance.
• Appointments are subject to Family Action receiving a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service – Enhanced with Children’s Barred List.
Benefits:
- an annual paid leave entitlement of 30 working days plus bank holidays
- up to 6% matched-pension contributions
- enhanced paid sick leave and paid family leave provisions
- health insurance cash plan
- eye care and winter flu jabs vouchers
- investing in your professional development with ongoing quality training and career development opportunities

We are forward looking, ambitious and committed to continuous improvement. We are a people focused, can-do organisation, which strives for excellence in all we do and operates with mutual respect.
