- starting at £28,598 FTE pro-rata per annum, rising to £31,384 (£11,593.78 – 12,723.24 per annum for part time, 15 hours per week)
Location: Fosse Neighbourhood Centre, Mantle Road, Leicester LE3 5HG (current location but due to relocate)

Family Action’s Post Sexual Abuse (PSA) service is a long standing, well respected service delivering therapeutic support to children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse, and their parents/carers. Our aim is to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people, and bring about greater stability in their lives. Family Action wishes to recruit a part-time social worker to the PSA Service, this post is fixed term until 31 March 2027.
Main Responsibilities:
• The successful candidate will hold and work a small, time-limited caseload, providing tailored, systemic therapeutic support to children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse. This will involve offering a range of interventions including psycho-educative work with families about the effects of trauma, and support to reduce or better manage traumatic symptoms. Partnership working with a range of external professionals is a key part of the support offered.
• You will have a recognised professional qualification in social work, and current Social Work England registration. You will have extensive knowledge and understanding of the needs of children and young people who are experiencing emotional trauma. You will have at least one years’ experience of having worked as a social worker with children and young people, preferably with experience of working therapeutically. You must also have access to a vehicle for business purposes and be able to travel frequently, sometimes at short notice, across the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area.
Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
• A recognised professional qualification in social work and a current registration with Social Work England, combined with evidence of a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
• A sound theoretical understanding of the impact of child sexual abuse; trauma; child development; attachment and resilience. Extensive knowledge and understanding of, and insight into, the needs of children and young people who have experienced trauma.
• An understanding and awareness of a range of interventions and models of working with children and young people and their parents and carers that social workers can use to respond to individual needs and circumstances including individual and group work programmes.
• Appointments are subject to Family Action receiving a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service – this post requires a DBS Enhanced Childrens’ DBS Level check
